There is a pathway for all members at Wey Valley. We want to support you on your journey and take you to the level you want to achieve.
You can work your way through the development path as your skills progress. There is something for everyone from those wanting to bowl socially through to others who have aspirations to represent the County (and maybe even their Country).
Wey Valley’s speciality! We have a thriving community who meet socially for a roll up, a league game or a drink in the bar. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming club so if you are visiting the club on your own or with a friend, you will always be made to feel very welcome.
If you have bowled before, roll ups will be familiar to you. Rinks can be booked by members by emailing
If you would like to join a league team, Marilyn can help you. Marylin will slot you into a league team that is in line with your ability and availability. Anything from tea time triples to matinee pairs, there is a league team for you!
She will guide you to find a league team that is in line with your ability and availability.
We have everything from a newbies league right up to Division One leagues for the more seasoned bowler.
Our very own version of Potters! Peter can help you to enter our annual competitions where members compete throughout the season for Wey Valley Trophies.
Wey Valley regularly visit local clubs and associations. There are signup sheets on clip boards opposite the bar. Gill works very hard to find lovely local clubs for us to visit and of course, return the favour. It is a wonderful opportunity to play against other clubs and maybe even have a spot of lunch (or afternoon tea). It’s not all about the bowling you know!
For those wanting to take their bowls a little more seriously (and not everyone does!), members can work towards being selected for the big matches.
Amongst many achievements over the years, the Wey Valley men won the Denny Cup (the bowls equivalent of the FA CUP), back in 2013 and the ladies were runners up in the Surrey Fours in 2023.
County & National competitions are also open for you to apply for.

Who knows where it will lead? Our very own Gill Platt was selected to play for England in the Commonwealth Games in 2022. It was wonderful to share her journey. What a fantastic opportunity and one that started at Wey Valley.
