A note from our Club President 2021-2022

Dear Wey Valley Members

I was very honoured and privileged to be asked to become President of Wey Valley for the 2021-2022 season. I will endeavour to carry out my responsibilities to the best of my ability and maintain the standards of this excellent and successful Club.

I have a very strong connection with Wey Valley as my father was the quantity surveyor in building our wonderful Club. He actually put up the first bowl when it opened and when I leave the green and go through the swing doors, if I look up, his name is on the board with many others.

As we try to live our lives after this terrible pandemic, we must remain careful and cautious but at the same time hopefully get back to enjoying our bowling again.

As with every year we need new members to maintain our membership so I would ask you all to encourage friends and family to take up bowls and join our great and successful Club. They will be assured of a Wey Valley warm welcome and our Club coaches are always on hand to help and teach members as needed.

Please support the friendly matches and leagues as they are so important to the income of the Club and everyone is good enough to play so please put your names down on the sheets, the matches are great fun.

On the competitive side the Club enters the National and Surrey competitions which include the Denny Cup, Yetton, Mason etc which Wey Valley always feature strongly in and I wish all the teams the best of luck and hope that many of you will come and cheer them on when they play. Support and cheering helps so much when you are playing, it lifts and inspires players. Also there are the Club competitions which all playing members are eligible to enter.

The Board of Directors work extremely hard on your behalf and although Alan Tingay has retired after many years of tirelessly working for Wey Valley we wish him well and I’m sure the ‘new board’ will continue to maintain the high standard in making Wey Valley the highly respected Indoor Bowling Club that it is.

Finally, I wish you all good health and a happy, enjoyable and successful season and I look forward to meeting you all on and off the green.

Carolyne Stevens
